Lower Elementary Academy (Grades 2-4)

This is a one-day per week, 4.5-hour drop-off program for students that runs from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm. The parent is NOT required to stay on campus during this time.  All teachers have had a background check completed. We cover literature, art, history, and science with the students. They eat a home-packed nut-free lunch and have lots of outside recess time. We run this program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. You choose the day that works best for you. Students are dropped off in our kiss-and-ride line and picked up at the end of the day in the same manner. Caregivers never need to leave their car!

Literature/Book-Club!

  • Welcome to Adventures in Reading, a dynamic book club tailored for young explorers in grades 2-4!  The anticipated book titles for the upcoming year will be revealed in early August. Your child is asked to read around 20-25 pages weekly throughout the year. The reading level of the text is geared towards third-grade ability, and audiobook options are available for almost all selections. Lower academy students are often asked to write a sentence or two and draw as a group during this class.
    • The Very, Very Far North by Dan Bar-el. In the Very, Very Far North, past the Cold, Cold Ocean and just below the hill that looks like a baby whale, you’ll find Duane and his friends. Duane is a sweet and curious young bear who makes friends with everyone he meets—whether they’re bossy, like Major Puff the puffin, or a bit vain, like Handsome the musk ox, or very, very shy, like Boo the caribou. For these arctic friends, every day is a new adventure! ISBN-13 ‏ : ‎ 978-1534433410
    • Ways to Make Sunshine (A Ryan Hart Story) by Renée Watson. Ryan Hart can be and do anything. Her name means “king”, that she is a leader, and she is determined to keep growing into the name her parents gave her. She is all about trying to see the best in people, to be a good daughter, sister, and friend. But Ryan has a lot on her mind. For instance: Dad finally has a new job, but money is still tight. That means some changes, like moving into a new (old) house, and Dad working the night shift. And with the fourth-grade talent show coming up, Ryan wonders what talent she can perform on stage in front of everyone without freezing. As even more changes and challenges come her way, Ryan always finds a way forward and shows she is a girl who knows how to glow. ISBN-13: ‎ 978-1547606658
