My name is Yajaira Caquias, but you can call me Mrs. CQ. I was born on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico which is a Spanish-speaking U.S. territory. I am married and have an amazing ten-year-old son. Having spent more than half of my life living and pursuing my education in Puerto Rico, I have benefited from a rich learning environment and immersion in the Spanish language, education, and culture. Furthermore, I am a United States military veteran having served on the island for more than a decade. During my military service, I served in many capacities as a class instructor and substitute teacher at the Antilles High School located at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico. I worked with at-risk youth with the end goal of helping create a pathway for higher learning and development. This unique opportunity propelled me into the classroom having also served as an Adjunct Instructor for Spanish-speaking recruits. I also served as a civil servant for the Marshal Service and in 2014, I transitioned back to the continental United States. I accepted a position as the Executive Secretary to the Presidential Appointee for the United States Marshals Service, District of Massachusetts in 2017. Lastly, since 2020, I have embraced the homeschool learning journey with my son and have taught first-, second-, and fourth-grade curriculums. My goal is to continue teaching and contributing to the development of young minds by fostering the practical application of lifelong learning skills.
